GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Men's Basketball Tournament championship game has been played outside of Grand Rapids only once over the last 10 seasons, and that trend will continue on Monday when No. 9 Davenport travels up the East Beltline to face No. 5 Cornerstone. It will be the third meeting of the year between the two schools as each has won on their opponent's home floor during the regular season.
Rick Berkey will have the call live from Mol Arena with a tip at 7:30 p.m.

Scouting Cornerstone – 28-4, 20-2 WHAC – Head coach Kim Elders (21st Year)
Veteran head coach Kim Elders and his Golden Eagles took home the conference's regular-season championship as his team went 28-4 overall, 20-2 in the WHAC. An experienced group is undoubtedly led by senior Wes Hudson who is second in the conference in scoring, third in rebounding and second in assists and steals. Hudson (19.2) is one of three players averaging double-figures along with Ben Lanning (14.5) and Jake Plite (10.3). CU has suffered just four losses this season, one to then-No. 2 Indiana Wesleyan, one to Davenport, one to NCAA DII Ferris State and one to Aquinas. Two of those four have come on their home floor.
Last Meeting vs. Cornerstone
Davenport fell to the then No. 6 Golden Eagles in the NAIA Game of the Week 85-71 on Jan. 25. The Panthers were without leading scorer and rebounder
Dominez Burnett and made a late charge to post a second consecutive season sweep, but Wes Hudson (27) and Ben Lanning (20) scored over half of the team's points to post the win.
Close Calls at Mol
Over the last five years, the Davenport-Cornerstone rivalry has been one of the best in the WHAC and the two teams have had many close contests including almost every one of those at Mol Arena. Since DU posted a 3-point win (63-60) for their first road win at CU, the series is 4-2 in favor of the Panthers with Cornerstone holding a 423-418 edge in total points in those six matchups.
Series History
Cornerstone controlled the early part of the Beltline Rivalry but since 2008-09 (when Paddock was hired at Davenport), it has been all Panthers. DU has won nine of the 13 meetings over the last five plus seasons including an 81-80 victory at CU earlier this season. The Golden Eagles evened the season series with an 85-71 win in late January.
