DeHaan Combines for 37 Kills in No. 14 Volleyball’s Two Wins

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The No. 14 Davenport volleyball team opened day one of Georgetown College's Boneyard Brawl Friday afternoon with four-set victories over Bryan (Tenn.) and Indiana Wesleyan, both which are receiving votes in the NAIA poll.

Marcey DeHaan racked up 37 kills in the two matches while Amber Getty earned 99 assists on the afternoon. Lexie Spetoskey and Morgan Torres both had busy days defensively with both combining for 62 digs.

Davenport returns to the Georgetown campus for a showdown with the 17th-ranked Tigers at 10 a.m. followed by a rematch with No. 9 Viterbo at 12:30 p.m. Viterbo escaped with a 3-0 victory over Davenport in the Panther Invitational at the Student Center two weeks ago.

Match 1 – Davenport 3, Bryan 1 (25-20, 16-25, 25-18, 25-20)
While Davenport (24-6) held on to win the opening set 25-20, the Panthers had a difficult time finding a rhythm in the second set, allowing 20-5 take the second set 25-16.

DU did bounce back from the loss and took charge of the third and fourth sets 25-18, 25-20, respectively, for the match win. DeHaan and Hannah Stone were the only Panthers to reach double figures in kills, with DeHaan tallying 24 and Stone recording 15. Getty collected 52 assists while Torres reached for 18 digs.

Match 2 – Davenport 3, Indiana Wesleyan 1 (25-18, 24-26, 25-21, 25-19)
Much like the first match, Davenport claimed the opening set but trailed throughout the second. Although the Panthers did tie the score at 24 apiece, the Wildcats (24-6) received the two points needed to win the game. DU would strike first in the next two sets and never look back to win the match.

DeHaan and Molly Lameyer combined for 29 kills while Krissy Dill earned a double-double of 11 kills and 13 digs. Spetoskey led the Panthers in the digs department with 20 while Getty set up 47 attacks.
