Women’s Basketball Heads to Lawrence Tech Wednesday Back at No. 2 in Top 25

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport women's basketball team returned to a familiar spot in the NAIA Top 25 Tuesday as the association elevated the Panthers back to No. 2. As they begin the week ranked second in the country for the first time since the preseason poll, the Panthers will travel across the state of Michigan to take on Lawrence Tech Wednesday in a rare 6 p.m. tipoff. Fans can listen to the game live on the Davenport Athletics Network with Ken Clemens and Ed Keating calling the plays.

A Quick Look at Lawrence Tech
Under the leadership of second-year head coach Mary Pinkowski, the Blue Devils have been gone 2-2 in the last four games, picking up victories wins over Lourdes at home and Marygrove on the road while falling to Indiana Tech and most recently Northwestern Ohio (76-86) at home. Although Allison Bicknell is leading the team in scoring (12.8), Hali Butler has been Lawrence Tech's go-to player as she is averaging 11.5 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. As a team, the Blue Devils are shooting .399 percent from the field, .308 from 3-point range.
 
The Last Time vs. Lawrence Tech
Brittany Johnson had 14 points but highlighted the meeting against Lawrence Tech with 12 assists to tie the Student Center record as the Panthers picked up an 87-50 win over the Blue Devils on Nov. 7. Alex Law also matched Johnson's 14 points off the bench while Tiesha Stokes was the leading rebounder with seven. Davenport only trailed 11 seconds into the game before back-to-back put-backs by Alison Bouman followed by a layup from Stokes gave DU a 6-2 lead. Stokes had 13 points before the Panthers went into intermission leading 52-30.
 
Davenport-Lawrence Tech All-Time
Davenport and Lawrence Tech have only met three times since the Blue Devils' women's basketball debut last season.  Among players who have played in all three meetings, Alex Law has shown to like playing against the Blue Devils as the sophomore is averaging 13.3 points while going 11-for-19 from beyond the arc in all three meetings.
