GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After picking up a victory Saturday at rival Cornerstone to move into a tie for first place in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference, the 11
th-ranked Davenport women's basketball team will look to stay in the championship race with three games to be played in five days, starting Monday at third-place Siena Heights. Opening tip is at 6 p.m. and can be heard live on the Davenport Athletics Network (DAN) with
Ken Clemens on the headset at 5:45 p.m.
The Panthers (22-1, 14-1 WHAC) are concluding perhaps the toughest part of their WHAC schedule, playing four of five games away from the student Center. The Panthers have won the last four contests and will finish the stretch Monday at the Saints. The rest of the schedule will consist of home and away games back-to-back.
Siena Heights has been the hottest team in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference as of late, having won seven straight to remain at third place in the standings. Recently, the Saints stepped out of league play and picked up a 70-44 home win over Rochester College last Friday. Chandler Levit finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and three steals while three other Saints scored in double-figures. Amanda Warfield paces the Saints this season in points per game, averaging 11.6, while the rebounding category belows to Amanda Duke with 6.8.
Tiesha Stokes scored 22 points and collected 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season, and
Kendra Cook added a season-high 20 points as then-No. 6 Davenport held on in the second half to beat Siena Heights 80-63 in their last meeting at the Student Center in December. Along with Cook gathering five boards,
Karli Harris manufactured 15 points, five assists and four steals.
Kia Frazier also added five steals while she and Cook both notched three assists.
