Matt Sekosan

Matthew Sekosan was named Davenport’s head coach for Women's Ice Hockey in June 2019. He became the fourth head coach in Davenport Women's Ice Hockey history. Prior to that, he was an assistant under coach Phil Sweeney on the Men’s D1 Ice Hockey team. The former Davenport goaltender brings over a decade of experience within Davenport athletics to the women’s program.

Sekosan suited up for the Panthers from 2008-2013 and was a member of the 2011 ACHA D1 Men’s National Championship team. The Sterling Heights, Mich. native went on to earn both an undergraduate (2012) and master’s degree (2014) from Davenport, while beginning his coaching career. He served as an assistant coach with Forest Hills Central boys varsity from 2014-2017, claiming the school’s first regional title in over 20 seasons. They also made two trips to the state quarterfinals. From there, Matt went on to coach most recently with the Fox Motors Hockey Club Boys-15 Tier 1 team for two seasons, reaching the state semifinals in the first season on the bench.

Sekosan resides in Wyoming with his wife, Lindsey, and their dog Ryder.
