Owen Scott begins his fourth season at Davenport as the lead assistant wrestling coach. Scott is a native of Palmyra, N.Y. and completed his undergraduate degree in communications from Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. Scott had a successful wrestling career for the Big Red as a four-year letterman. He posted a 12-5 record on the mat as a senior and took second place at the Cleveland State Open. He also earned a 3-2 win over No. 17 Frank Mattiace of Penn in his final collegiate match. During the 2015-16 season, Scott finished with a 16-9 record and was an NCAA Division I qualifier at 197 pounds. He was also ranked as high as 11th in the country. He qualified for nationals after placing third at the EIWA Tournament. Scott finished his collegiate career with a 50-20 record. Scott has also been active at Cornell wrestling camps as an instructor for three years.
Scott is a two-time New York State finalist with a 238-22 record in high school at Palymra Macedon. He is a two-time NHCSA All-American and a one-time finalist. With the Finger Lakes Wrestling Club, he won titles at the New York State Intercollegiate Championships in the "B" Bracket and JCCC Open.
Owen has served as club director for ARES Wrestling Club which works with kids in the Grand Rapids and Lansing area.
