High School: Prepped at Hanover-Horton (Mich.) under coach Dean Blackledge...ran 16:19 for a personal best in cross country...set the following bests in track and field (1,600 - 4:37 ; 3,200 - 9:48 ; 800 - 2:06)...selected all-state once, all-conference eight times, all-region four times, and all-area twice in track...earned all-state, four-time all conference, four-time all region, three-time all area, and one all-state dream team in cross country.

Personal: Majoring in business management...son of Chris and Jacquie Melling...born on May 19...favorite movie is The Lego Movie.
