Head Coach Patrick Grashorn is excited to announce the hiring of Mike Flowers as an assistant coach for the Davenport University tennis programs. Flowers returns to DU, where he was an assistant coach from 2011-2012.

Flowers remained involved with tennis after departing from DU in 2012. He was the head tennis professional at Court One Athletic Clubs from May 2013 – September 2017. In addition, Flowers has been the director of player development at the Grand Rapids Racquet and Fitness from September 2017 – until present. He studied finance at Michigan State University and graduated in 2007. Flowers was a four-year letter-winner for the Spartans, serving as team captain during his junior and senior campaigns. In his junior season, he ranked #3 in doubles and #25 in singles nationally.

During his short stint with the Panthers back in 2011 and 2012, the men's tennis team advanced to the NAIA Regional Semifinal in 2011. While the women's team had the WHAC Player of the Year in 2011 and won the 2012 WHAC Championship.

"I'm extremely excited to have Mike return to college coaching. He was an integral part of building the program back when we started coaching together in 2010. As a full time teaching professional, he's trained dozens of nationally ranked junior players and knows what it takes to be successful at a high level. In addition to his strong work ethic and tennis aptitude, Mike brings a positive attitude that adds to our team dynamic and tennis "family" mentality," said Grashorn.
