Mat Finley has 30-plus years of playing and coaching experience in both New Zealand and Australia. He has a sports science degree with an emphasis in coaching science and elite sport and began coaching age group rugby players in New Zealand before his life took a different track and he ended up settling in Grand Rapids.
Mat also has a varied experience in leadership development, empowerment and has taken an active role in both mentoring and youth work. Through this pursuit he has been privileged to be involved with some of the next up-and-coming New Zealand and Pacific leaders at the National Aspiring Leaders Forum and the Pacific Youth leadership summit in New Zealand.
This is Mat’s third season of coaching for the Davenport’s Men’s Rugby program as its forwards coach.
