Juniors: Currie played two seasons with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights on the North American Hockey League (NAHL). He scored 25 goals and 30 assists in 113 games.

High School: Currie played at Fores Hills Central, where he left as the school's all-time leading scorer, including scoring 61 points in 27 games as a senior.
