Eric Sikkenga

Eric Sikkenga begins his fourth season guiding the DIII hockey program at Davenport University. He has slowly began to improve the program including nine wins during the 2019-20 season.

Sikkenga brought 20 years of coaching experience to help build the ACHA Division III men's hockey program. He was a teacher and coach at Muskegon Reeths-Puffer High School from 2001-2018. He served as varsity head coach for the boys ice hockey team from 2004-2017 and was responsible for complete program management including youth player development from U6-Varsity. Sikkenga helped R-P develop into a strong program and led the Rockets to a trip to the Division 2 state semifinals in 2014. He also is the founder and director of Michigan's largest high school summer hockey tournament.

Sikkenga is certified in the Michigan High School Athletic Association Coaching Advancement Program and is also certified as a strength and conditioning coach. He has also worked as a USA Hockey Level 4 Certified Coach in the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association with the Muskegon Chiefs. His teams have made five state tournaments and have multiple Adray and Little Caesar's titles.

Sikkenga worked with the University of Michigan's hockey program as a student assistant from 1999-2001. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan in 2001 and then went on to earn his master's equivalent from Western Michigan University in 2011. He also is a licensed realtor with Keller Williams in Grand Rapids.
