UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saturday doubleheader between Davenport and Saginaw Valley State resembled a video game like MLB the Show or RBI Baseball. The teams combined for a total of 60 runs and 50 hits in a split as the Panthers took 3-of-4 from the Cardinals to start GLIAC play on a good note.
In Game 1, DU had their six-game win streak snapped with a 10-8 loss in seven innings. Davenport built a 5-0 lead in the top of the first but it did not hold. The Cardinals scored once in the second and nine times in the third to take a 10-7 lead. The offenses cooled off over the next three innings and then Davenport scored once in the seventh.
Carson Eby had the big hit in the first inning with a three-run shot to center which plated the final three runs of the inning.
Travis Harvey and
Noah Marcoux each had a RBI double in the third. Martin Money had a grand slam in the big third inning for the Cardinals which gave them the 10-7 advantage.
