Panthers compete at the Indiana Tech Warrior Opener

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Davenport track and field teams traveled to Indiana Tech for the Warrior Opener on Saturday. A handful of Panthers were able to set personal bests and a few also took first place in their events. Here is a few of the top performances by the Panthers.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
  • Scout Nelson claimed first place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:17.87 and set a personal best in the process.
  • Alexandra Eby finished first in the pole vault with a height of 11' 3.75" and ninth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.37.
  • The 4x400 relay team consisting Nelson, Erin Dorn, Autumn Hancock and Aislyn Shannon took first with a time of 4:20.90.
  • Lisa Wangler finished third in the hammer throw (164' 2") and fourth in the shot put with a distance of 40' 0".
  • Ethan Flores picked up a sixth-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.97 which was four one-hundredths of a second off his personal best. Flores also placed second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.78.
  • Isaiah Schafer placed first in the shot put with a time of 59' 9" and hit a provisional mark in the process. Schafer also placed third in the discus with a throw of 153' 8" which was a personal best.
Back on Thursday, the Panthers also competed at the Calvin Spring Thing Invitational. T.J. Moore broke the school record in the 10,000 meters with a time of 32:26.07. Emma Schafer also nearly broke the school record in the javelin throw at 36.98 meters which is the second-best throw at Davenport and finished first in the event.
