Snowdown Showdown Recap

Noah Dooley won the heptathlon to highlight the team's accomplishments

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Davenport track and field teams once again made a trip to nearby Allendale and competed at the GVSU Snowdown Showdown. The Panthers will spend the next several meets at the Kelly Family Sports Center during their abbreviated indoor season. This was a non-scoring event featuring Division I, Division II, and Division III athletes.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
  • Noah Dooley bested a field of five others in the heptathlon to win the event with 5,171 points. That total is a NCAA provisional mark and was four points ahead of Skyler Lester of Eastern Michigan University. Dooley won the 60 meter dash (6.99) and pole vault (14' 7.25").
  • Emma Schafer finished fourth in the pentathlon with 3,146 points. Schafer won the 60 meter hurdles (9.38) and was second in the shot put (37' 6.75").
  • Colin Grady finished 10th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.97.
  • Ethan Flores placed eighth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.28 and actually had a personal best of 8.25 in the prelims.
  • Mitchell McKelvey finished fifth in the pole vault clearing 14' 5.5".
  • Isaiah Schafer placed third in the shot put (55' 0") and eighth in the weight throw (55' 4.25").
