GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Panthers have been searching for their first GLIAC win of the season and won in emphatic fashion against Michigan Tech today. Davenport poured in 81 points and beat the Huskies by 15 points.
Toni Grace and
Madison Jones were a dynamic duo in the game, Grace scored 25 points and Jones scored 21. Davenport shot just underneath 50% for the game and outscored the Huskies 23-9 at the free throw line. The win marks the first conference victory of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers have had great first quarters in their last few games and this contest was no different. Davenport built up a 22-14 lead, lighting up the scoreboard in front of the home crowd. The final four minutes of the quarter were big for Davenport, as they closed the on a 15-4 run.
The momentum carried into the second quarter for the Panthers. Davenport scored the opening nine points of the second and took a commanding 31-14 lead. Four different players scored in that stretch. Michigan Tech ended the half with a hot hand and the lead was cut down to single digits. Davenport held a 37-30 lead at the break.
The second half has been the Panthers nemesis all season and they put that to rest today. Davenport scored 21 in the quarter and held the Huskies to 14 points. The lead consistently grew throughout the quarter and reached 16 points after a free throw by
Jenna Falkenberg.
The team did a great job of closing the game in the fourth quarter and preserving the lead. Davenport went 13/15 from the charity stripe, which made it near impossible for the Huskies to make a comeback. In addition to hitting their free throws, Davenport took care of the ball down the stretch. The DU defense held Michigan Tech to only 5/25 from deep.
