KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The rain held off after two days without baseball and Davenport showed up ready to play from the opening pitch in an 11-3 win over Texas-Tyler. The Panthers scored in each of the first five innings building a 10-2 lead over the Patriots. Austin Schneider came into the game 2-0 on the mound but lasted just 1.1 innings. He allowed two hits and three runs while issuing four walks and striking out three.
James Rogers got the start for Davenport and gave his club five innings of three-hit ball to go with three hits allowed and two runs allowed. He walked three and struck out five to improve to 1-0.
The Panthers used three pitchers out of the bullpen for the first time this season.
Spencer Vainavicz made his DU debut and wiggled out of two jams in the sixth and seventh innings. He allowed one hit with two strikeouts.
Luke LaLumia allowed one unearned run with a strikeout in the eighth.
Duncan Gillett tossed in the ninth inning and faced four batters with one strikeout.
