GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport women's basketball team made things very interesting in the third quarter with a big run that trimmed the Michigan Tech lead to 44-40, but the Huskies pulled away late in the third and into the fourth quarter for a 72-53 win over the Panthers in GLIAC action. The Panthers trailed by a dozen (30-18) at halftime and could not find their shooting touch going 7-of-30 in the first half from the floor. Davenport clawed back in the third quarter as
Haley Gibbons heated up with eight points in the quarter and she made four straight shots in a span of just over two minutes. DU trailed 44-40 with 1:36 left in the quarter after Gibbons' jumper but the Huskies scored the final five points of the third to lead 49-40.
Michigan Tech grew the lead to 13 points (59-46) with 6:47 to play on a triple by center Elizabeth Kelliher. The lead never got under double figures the rest of the way as the Huskies outscored Davenport, 23-13, in the fourth quarter. MTU shot 9-of-17 in the quarter compared to 6-of-18 for the Panthers. Gibbons finished with a career-high 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting and also grabbed six rebounds and blocked a shot in 15 minutes.
Leighten Koepke scored 10 points off the bench including two triples.
Jenna Falkenberg notched her 10th double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds. She also set a career-high with five assists and blocked two shots in 33 minutes.

Toni Grace each scored eight points. DU went to the free throw line just four times tying a season-low. DU outrebounded MTU, 39-34, including 11 offensive boards.
