CALEDONIA, Mich. - The Davenport men's rugby team wrapped up their fall season with a loss to #4 ranked Lindenwood on Saturday at Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex. Lindenwood is a very experienced outfit and the young Davenport team had no answer for the pressure applied from the early onset. Lindenwood scored first in the 7th minute. The Davenport defensive effort for the next 25 minutes was outstanding, holding out Lindenwood's try scoring attempts multiple times. With a mountain of possession and favorable territory, the Lindenwood Lions were able to capitalize scoring three quick tries in the last five minutes of the half for a 27-0 scoreline at halftime. Davenport scored first after the half with
Bryce McCumber scampering down the sideline, beating two defenders and scoring in the corner. This gave the Panthers a glimmer of hope, but it was soon snuffed out with another Lindenwood try in the 53rd minute. Two more Lindenwood tries followed in the 61st minute and the 68th minute of the game to round out the scoring 48-8. DU will be back in the spring, fit and healthy, and will continue to push for a playoff berth in April 2020.
