11/14/2019 7:27:00 PM

Overwatch

Overwatch went to Western Michigan this week for their WMU Overwatch Invitational. They took on Ohio State Gaming Club, Trine University, and Aquinas College. After dropping games against Ohio State and Trine, Davenport beat Aquinas in their third match and finished 5th out of 8 teams. It was a great learning experience for the players and their first real "road test" of the season.

Rainbow Six: Siege

Davenport Esports Rainbow Six Team took a 7-4 victory over Nevada Energy on Friday. The Panthers are two weeks out from the UCL playoffs, and this win sets them up for post-season success. Team captain Damian "Apache" Cole had this to say, "The improvements we have made showed brightly in our match. We looked like a different and ready team. I'm excited to see where this growth leads us."

Apex Legends

The Davenport Apex Legends team finished the regular season of the Indy Gaming League fall circuit in third place, with a collective 480 points. The team qualified for the playoffs and is looking to make a statement in an attempt to knock out the number one team in the League Ryze Gaming.

League of Legends

League of Legends completed their last regular season match in GGLeagues against Central Michigan, losing the game in a heartbreaker. The team will be headed to WMU on November 16th to compete in the Semifinals and Finals of their Division of GGLeagues. Coverage of the matches can be seen on twitch.tv/ggleaguesofficial. Matches start at 11 am and the event finishes at 5:45 pm with the finals matches kicking off at 2 pm.

Rocket League

Rocket League faced off in three matches this week. Starting off on Thursday against local rival school Grand Valley State "B" team. The Panthers won with a 3-0 sweep and improved to a 2-1 record in CSL. Friday, the Panthers played Str8 Outta Bed in their last IGL match of the season. In a back-and-forth battle leading up to a game five matchup, the Panthers took the lead and won the match 3-2. For the final matchup of the week the Panthers played Ferris State University's Crimson Team on Saturday and DU picked up the win 3-1 in the series, moving to a 3-1 record in CSL. With the conclusion of IGL only CSL is left for the Panthers and will go on until February. Next week the Panthers will play Ferris State University's second team, Team Black.

Program Wide Event

This weekend, multiple members of the Esports program locked themselves in The Lab for twenty-four hours. During this time they all hopped onto a game that they were passionate about, some played multiple games, and played to raise money for The Children's Miracle Network and Helen DeVos Children's Hospital through Extra Life. The students raised a total amount of $428.
