MARQUETTE, Mich. – Davenport rounded out their road trip at Northern Michigan and ended on a positive note. The Panthers went into the Vandament Arena and earned their first-ever win over the Wildcats in program history. The win saw Davenport improve to 4-3 in GLIAC play and sit tied with Wayne State for second place in the GLIAC South division.
Jessica Marvin and
Hayley Kreiger hit .250 or better with at least five kills in the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-SET SCORES: 25-23, 25-15, 25-22
-The Panthers bounced back from their loss at Michigan Tech with poise and determination. Davenport took an early 6-3 lead after multiple errors by the Wildcats. The lead increased to four points, 11-7, after kills from Marvin and Kreiger. Northern Michigan battled back and tied it up 11-11. The Wildcats held a 22-19 late in the set. The Panthers erased the lead quickly and took the set 25-23. Davenport scored six of the final seven points, which included three kills by Vander Meer.
-The second set was all the Panthers. An enormous run in the middle of the set separated Davenport from Northern Michigan. With the score 8-6, in DU's favor, the Panthers scored eight unanswered points to take a 16-6 lead. Vander Meer served during seven of the points and Kreiger recorded two kills in the stretch. Davenport held tight to their lead throughout and the set-winning kill belonged to Marvin, assisted by
Sydney Tracer.
-The Panthers didn't waste the opportunity to complete the sweep in the third set. Davenport built up a 10-7 lead and was in the driving seat for the remainder of the set. A five-point run late in the set put the Panthers in great position for the sweep. Davenport fought off a couple late surges by the Wildcats for the set and match win.

Davenport is back on their home court next week. The Panthers host Ferris State on Friday and then Northwood on Saturday. The Bulldogs are currently ranked number seven in the country.
