QUINCY, Ill. - The win streak reached four on Saturday afternoon for the Davenport football team with a 26-10 decision at Quincy University. The final non-conference game of the season was a rematch of the 2016 season when DU defeated the Hawks 14-10 on home turf during their first season of competition. The Hawks once again scored just 10 points against the vaunted defense of the Panthers. Quincy managed to gain 177 yards on 56 plays and were just 1-of-12 on third down and 1-of-3 on fourth down. Davenport had another solid offensive performance gaining 351 yards on 73 plays and held the ball for 34:50.

The Panthers took the opening kickoff and went 14 plays down to the Quincy 7-yard line, but missed a 24-yard field goal wide left. The drive took 6:42 off the clock and gave the defense a decent rest right off the bat. After a three-and-out for Quincy, DU took over at their own 36 and drove 64 yards in nine plays as Keion Powers rushed for a two-yard score with 2:12 left in the first quarter.

Quincy reached DU territory to start the second quarter but had to punt down to the DU 16. On the second play, Haiden Majewski fumbled and it was recovered by Jordan Wynn for the Hawks at the DU 21. The defense stood tall by pushing the Hawks back five yards and forcing a 43-yard field goal by Michael Klotz to make it 7-3 with 11:01 left in the second quarter.

Majewski had a pass intercepted two drives later for DU and Clayton Cole put the Hawks at the DU 48 with 6:34 left in the quarter. Quincy drove to the DU 23 but Klotz had a field goal blocked to keep it 7-3. The Panthers took one last drive in the half as Brent Showers forced a fumble and Jamal Veazey recovered it at the QU 10 with 45 seconds on the clock. Majewski then found Brendan Boman for his first career touchdown catch from seven yards for a 13-3 lead heading into the locker room.

Quincy stormed out of the locker room and scored on a six-yard run by Tionne Harris after a great kickoff return to the DU 42. Davenport increased their lead to 20-10 with 3:41 left in the third quarter as Majewski tossed a 64-yard score to Michael Catching. The Panthers closed out the game with field goals by Ahmed. He connected on a 22-yarder with 12:46 left in the fourth quarter and again from 27 yards with 9:02 left in the game. Veazey set up the final score with a 40-yard interception return to the Quincy 1-yard line. Brian Williams picked off a pass on Quincy's final possession and DU ran out the clock in five plays and covered 33 yards.

Majewski threw for 226 yards and completed 16-of-25 passes. Nate Couturier caught five passes for 49 yards. Seth Acda rushed for 59 yards on 18 carries. Harris rushed for 94 yards on 17 carries for the Hawks. Kye Black led DU with 11 tackles and had 3.5 tackles for loss. Veazey finished with six tackles and two pass breakups.
