LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Davenport men's soccer team hit the road on Saturday at Bellarmine and 90 minutes could not decide the outcome. The Panthers and Knights entertained the fans all afternoon in a back-and-forth affair before the home team captured a 4-3 overtime win over DU.
Davenport (1-1) fresh off a big season opening win squared off with a formidable Bellarmine (2-0) team and played them tough. The Knights took a early 1-0 lead at 11:25 but then it was Davenport scoring the next two goals to take a 2-1 lead.
Brogan Shrimpton scored his fourth of the season at 15:59 on a header with assists from
Daire O'Riordan and
Carson Brinks.
Stephen Carroll then gave the visitors a one-goal edge at 23:53 on a header off a free kick by
Jake Van Schie.
BU scored twice more at 24:13 and 34:43 to regain a 3-2 lead. O'Riordan tied it up at 36:39 for his first goal of the season unassisted on a rebound off the post.Â
The second half was not nearly as entertaining on offense as neither team could break the tie. Each team had six shots in the second half as BU made three saves and DU had two. Joe Workman scored the game-winner at 95:54 from Jonas Skulstad on a header off a cross.
