CLERMONT, Fla. – The Panthers earned their first ever program win in the NAIA World Series after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Indiana Wesleyan University.
Emily Maves helped lead Davenport to the win as she pitched a complete game with 12 strikeouts.
Aby Brambila continues her hitting hot streak in the World Series after going two for three with an RBI double. She is currently three for six and leads all batters with two doubles. Davenport advances to take on the loser of Game seven between Columbia (Mo.) and Ottawa (Kan.).

Davenport turned things around from yesterdays hitting performance to todays. The Panthers recorded 10 team hits, first team to do so in this World Series, and scored three runs. The team wasted no time getting on the board as they scored in the bottom of the first inning. Flores singled up the middle, then Eastman singled through the left side and there were runners on first and second. Brambila stepped up to the plate and hit a hard ground to ball to second base, Flores advanced to third on the play then scored on a throwing error by the second base man. In the bottom of the third Davenport got two runs to take a 3-0 lead heading into the fourth inning. Brambila doubled to right center and Pauley scored all the way from first. Later in the inning Obetts singled to center field and Reed scored from third. Maves took care of business on the mound as she struck out nine batters through the opening three innings and only gave up two runs (both un-earned) during seven innings.
Up Next
The Panthers will play on Monday at 10:00 a.m. against an opponent that is un-determined yet. Davenport will play the loser of Game seven, which is between Columbia (Mo.) and Ottawa (Kan.) at 5:00 p.m. today. This will be a win or go home game for Davenport.
