MARION, Ind. - The Davenport women's tennis team had a busy Saturday as they traveled to the Hoosier State for a pair of top 18 matches against Campbellsville and Indiana Wesleyan. The first match against Campbellsville was one of the tightest all season with the Panthers pulling out the 5-4 win over the Tigers.
Puck Luttikhuis picked up her 87th career singles win and is now one shy of tying the school record of Emily Speich. She needed three sets to defeat Kaede Amano (4-6, 6-1, 6-0) at one singles. Luttikhuis is now 87-20 in her brilliant singles career at DU. Campbellsville claimed an 8-6 win at one doubles but the Panthers picked up the other two points in doubles.
Bridget Barrett and
Hannah Murphy were dominant in an 8-0 win at three doubles. Murphy also breezed to a 6-1, 6-0 win at six singles over Grace Rowe.
Terin Everse got her seventh singles win of the season at four singles in three sets over Kyleigh Murray (1-6, 6-3, 6-1).
The Panthers also were defeated 5-1 against 11th-ranked Indiana Wesleyan on their home courts. The Wildcats and Panthers played just a few matches ago but this time once IWU reached five team points the match was stopped. Barrett and Murphy at three doubles improved to 6-5 together and earned a 9-7 win for the team's point.
