Panthers Drop 7-2 Decision in Top 15 Showdown with Indiana Wesleyan

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport women's tennis team had a tough matchup on Friday against Indiana Wesleyan. The 14th-ranked Panthers dueled with the 11th-ranked Wildcats at Riverview Athletic Club with the Wildcats prevailing 7-2 behind strong singles play. The Panthers (5-6) dropped their third straight match after taking two of the three doubles matches. Indiana Wesleyan (24-7) earned all six points in singles play. Puck Luttikhuis had a three-setter against Rachel Bottorff winning the middle set 6-3 but falling 6-1 in the third set. Hannah Murphy won the first set at six singles 6-1 but could not hold on as she dropped the next two sets by scores of 6-4 and 10-4 in the super tiebreaker. The highlighted doubles win for DU came in the two spot as Steph Ritson and Adeline Nelson needed a tiebreaker to win 9-8 (7-5) over Olivia Reed and Ellen Hornett.
