Panthers Win Saints Showdown hosted by Aquinas
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The NAIA Cheer team captured first place on Sunday at the Saints Showdown hosted by Aquinas College. The Panthers were better than six other schools en route to the title with 88.37 points. Lindenwood-Belleville placed second with 81.7 points narrowly ahead of Lourdes (81.62). Missouri Baptist (77.4), Point Park (77.3), Aquinas (73) and Siena Heights (45.9) rounded out the team results.
A panel of three judges scored the event in favor of the Panthers. The best score was 90.55 as well as 87.9 and 87.4 from two other judges. Davenport was judged in building skills, tumbling/jumping skills and overall routine. The team scored a 10 in showmanship/general impression under overall routine. The team averaged 88.61 between the three judges with just 0.25 in deductions.
