Panthers Upset 3-2 in overtime at Ashland

Brayden Texer scored both goals for Davenport

ASHLAND, Ohio - After a big win on Friday at Tiffin in overtime, the extra session was not as kind on Sunday as Davenport men's soccer fell 3-2 at Ashland. The Eagles were defeated 5-0 earlier this season at Davenport, but figured out a way to pull the upset on their home turf.

After a scoreless first half of play, Thomas Ardron kicked home his third goal of the season at 49:08 on a play in which he scored off a deflection and chipped in over the head of DU's Aaron Orban. Ashland gained further momentum at 65:47 as Yusuke Yasumasu scored his second goal of the season from Andrew Pearson.

Davenport hit their stride from that point until the end of regulation as Brayden Texer scored his first two goals of the season at 68:52 and 78:18. His first goal was assisted by Nick Keyamo and the second from Daire O'Riordan on a one-on-one move.

The Eagles did not panic and eventually saw Ardron score the winner at 94:54 unassisted off a free kick in the top right corner. The loss dropped Davenport to 7-4-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the GLIAC where they currently stand in fourth place with 13 points. The Panthers were the aggressor for most of the match with 19-5 edge in total shots as Ashland goalkeeper Dimitrius Karousos made eight saves.
