GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – DU earned its third-straight WHAC Regular Season Championship and its fifth title in six years Friday afternoon. The Panthers had to fight to a pair of one-run victories over the Lourdes Gray Wolves, but the Panthers came away with the sweep and the outright WHAC Championship.

The Panthers took a 2-0 lead in game one as Alyssa Koziol and McKenzie Rowe each knocked RBI singles in the fifth inning. Lourdes would fight back in the seventh inning to tie the game and force extras with a two-out, two-run double.

DU secured its win in their first at bat of extras as Nicole Vitale hit a double to right center that scored Carli SanMillan and gave the Panthers a 3-2 lead. Emily Maves (19-4) picked up the win in the circle for DU with a complete game and three strikeouts.

The Panthers jumped out in game two with a big five-run first inning. Alyssa Eastman hit her 12^th home run of the season on a two-run shot to left field that scored Rowe and gave DU a 2-0 lead. Koziol would follow with a three-run home run that gave the Panthers a 5-0 lead.

DU saw the Gray Wolves fight back and cut their advantage to one-run. Lourdes brought the score to 5-4 with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning. Lourdes knocked a double to left center with two outs and the bases loaded that scored two runs, but the Sarah Schneidenbach was able to tag the tying run out at home plate on a relay from Rowe and Lauren French as the Panthers earned their win in dramatic fashion.

Mallory Teunissen (15-5) picked up the win in the circle on a complete game and two strikeouts.
