GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport men's tennis team broke into the double-digit win column on Tuesday with a 6-3 win over visiting Cornerstone at Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex. The Panthers picked up their first WHAC win and currently stand at 10-12 overall, while CU is now 10-9.
Davenport got two of three points in doubles both with 8-4 outcomes.
Matthew McClurg and
Matthew Boyle improved to 6-6 at one doubles together over Elijah Yi and Austin Hunt.
Haja Denise and
Kevin Slagh defeated Sam Ottosen and Austin Hendrick and have the most doubles wins this season on the team (11).
McClurg got a 6-0, 6-4 win at one singles over Yi. Boyle triumphed over Hunt (6-1, 6-2) at two singles improving to 3-6 at that spot. JP van Antwerpen claimed a 6-4, 6-0 win over Hendrick at three singles.
Michael Digby got the sixth point for DU with a 6-1, 7-6 win over Ottosen at five singles.
