Pitching Allows One Run in Doubleheader Sweep at Lourdes

DU has won seven straight improving to 18-7 overall and 6-0 in the WHAC

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Davenport baseball pitching was stellar on Saturday as they allowed one run in a doubleheader sweep at Lourdes to take all four games of the series. Davenport is now 18-7 overall and 6-0 in the WHAC having won their last seven contests.

Corey Sessions improved to 3-1 on the year allowing just three hits in eight innings in game one's 6-0 victory. He allowed one walk and struck out six while inducing 13 groundouts. Alex Schuiling tossed the ninth in order for the Panthers. Brian Sobieski and Zack Sardellitti collected a double while Matt Priebe hit his fifth home run of the season which was a solo shot in the ninth. Nolan Page had a sacrifice fly in the fourth to start the scoring. Jeremy Vasquez also had a RBI bunt single in the fourth. Priebe also had a RBI single in the seventh and Sobieski had a sacrifice fly.

Davenport claimed game two, 5-1, behind Michael Meade's first win of the season. He went four innings in the seven-inning contest and allowed two hits and one earned run. Meade walked two and struck out three. Schuiling tossed one inning in order in the fifth. Jonathan Cheshire picked up his seventh save of the season going two innings and allowing one hit with a strikeout.

Vasquez had the only extra-base hit in game two for DU with a two-RBI double down the left field line in the fourth. JP North singled home Priebe for the first run of the game for DU in the fourth. Page had a RBI single to right in the seventh and a double steal led to the team's final run.

Notes: Davenport batted .348 over the four-game series against the Grey Wolves…The Panther pitching staff had a 1.12 ERA and Lourdes hit .142 against them (15-for-106)…Priebe batted .500 (8-for-16) in the series with four runs and four RBI.
