HOLLAND, Mich. - The Davenport women's tennis team edged out Hope College, 5-4, on Tuesday at the DeWitt Tennis Center to improve to 3-3 overall this season. The Panthers captured two of the three doubles matches at the one and three spots.
Alyssa Fuentes and
Puck Luttikhuis had an 8-6 win at one doubles over Nancy Benda and Marie Holaway.
Hannah Murphy and
Emily Spiech also had an 8-6 win at three doubles over Amanda Susnak and Kate Mader. The two doubles went 9-7 in favor of the Flying Dutch.
Luttikhuis had a straight sets win at two singles (6-4, 6-3) over Anna Garcia.
Anne Douwes defeated Mader at three singles (6-2, 6-2).
Steph Ritson at four singles defeated Holaway (7-5, 1-6, 10-7) to clinch the match. Hope won at five and six singles as both matches went deep into the third set.
