DETROIT, Mich. - The Davenport women's basketball improved to 15-0 all-time against Marygrove and scored 100-plus for the third straight time against the Mustangs in a 107-44 road win on Tuesday night in the Motor City. Davenport, ranked sixth in NAIA Division II, improves to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference with the victory.
The margin of victory allowed the Panthers to rotate 14 players into the game and 12 of them scored in the contest.
Hannah Wilkerson and
Emily Severn each led the team with 15 points. Wilkerson shot 6-of-10 from the floor and 3-of-6 from behind the arc to set a new career-high in scoring. Severn was 6-of-8 from the floor and connected on 3-of-4 behind the arc. She also snagged six rebounds and blocked a shot in 15 minutes.
Mallory Sewell scored 14 points in 20 minutes and made 4-of-5 at the free throw line.
Ashley Cline and
Courtney Murphy each scored 11 points and Cline's point total was her season best. Cline made 4-of-5 from the floor and made two triples in eight minutes. Murphy canned three triples and also had five assists in 20 minutes.
Molly Babbs led the team with eight rebounds in 16 minutes.
Amanda Merz led the team with six assists and had two turnovers while also grabbing six boards.
Davenport held the Mustangs to single-digits in the first and fourth quarters. DU's biggest quarter was the fourth as they outscored Marygrove 28-7. DU led for 37:59 of the game and finished shooting 42.5 percent (37-of-87) from the floor as a squad.
