Panthers Continue Their Stellar Start to The Season with 3-0 Win Over Lawrence Tech

Davenport improves to 11-0-1 after dominating Lawrence Tech on their own turf

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Davenport continues to prove that this phenomenal start to the season is no fluke, as they traveled to Lawrence Tech and beat them 3-0. This was a total team effort as three different Panthers would score, and DU would see 22 different players touch the field this afternoon. The Panthers remain undefeated for the season and 4-0 in conference play.

Davenport's offense would prove to be too much for the Blue Devils to handle as DU tallied 14 shots on goal, and connected with three of them. Shameeka Fishley would get the Panthers on the scoreboard first on a beautiful individual effort. Fishley saw some open grass and carried the ball about 30 yards, then riffled a shot from just outside the right side of the box. The ball found its way to the left side of the net as the keeper had no chance of stopping it. This was Fishley's ninth goal of the season.

Roheema Bennett and Allison Luurtsema would provide two more scores later in the second half. Bennett received a ball sent over the top of defense, and touched the ball over the keeper and into the net just around the 18-yard line. Davenport would convert on a corner kick as Alice Linsell sent a ball into the box and Luurtsema got her head in the mix and sent the ball into the net.

"Today was a very good win for us, beating a team that had only lost once all season." Said head coach Chris Allen. Allen would later go on to say that "Lawrence Tech recently came off a victory against #19 Siena Heights and this will serve as a quality win moving forward. I'm very proud of my team's effort, intensity and quality of play today. This game showed the versatility that we possess on the offensive end of the ball. We prepare now for a huge game on Monday against #5 Northwestern Ohio. We can't wait for the opportunity to play those guys come Monday"

Davenport looks to carry this momentum to their match-up on Monday against conference opponent Northwestern Ohio. The game is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Monday at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex.
