STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The women's hockey team stretched their win streak to five on Thursday with a 2-1 win at Penn State. The Panthers (9-11-1) found themselves down 1-0 after a first period goal by Darby Kern at 6:23. They kept plugging away and broke through in the third period.
Adrienne Porcalla scored at 6:24 from
Patsy Howe to tie the game at 1-1. Porcalla also scored the game-winner at 14:04 from
Lexie Boydston and Tori Dubuc. Porcalla ranks second on the team this season with 10 goals.
"We came out slowly today, which is to be expected after a long bus ride," said head coach
Tom Hofman. "We kept it close in the first and the girls really picked up the pace in the second and third periods. You could really feel the momentum change after the halfway point of the third. Good teams find a way to win and we did just that. Karley played strong in net tonight earning a third star of the game. Adrienne played well and was the number one star."
