ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The Panthers finished their play in the Red Raider Classic Saturday with matches against Grand View College and Dordt College. Davenport dropped their first match of the day in three sets before they saw a five-match battle with Dordt. The Panthers took a 2-1 set lead over the Defenders before Dordt took set five by a 15-12 final to leave the overall record for Davenport at 3-5.
The first match saw the Panthers drop a 3-0 decision to Grand View.
Marcey DeHaan led the Panther offense with nine kills while
Sami White added 26 assists. Davenport fell in set one, 25-20, and could not recover as each set was a fight to the final point, but the Panthers fell just short. Davenport was led defensively by
Krissy Dill as she recorded 13 digs and DeHaan who totaled three blocks.
The second match gave Davenport a tough matchup with No. 25 Dordt College. The Panthers took the 2-1 match lead before they dropped set four, 25-18, and the decisive set five, 15-12. Davenport finished the day 0-2 despite Molly Lemeyer and
Krissy Dill each recording 15 kills while DeHaan totaled 10. White added 28 assists and
Sydney Tracer contributed 20. The Panthers saw stout defense from
Morgan Torres and Dill as they totaled 24 and 11 digs respectively. The two losses left the record for the Panthers in the Red Raider Classic at 2-2.
