SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Davenport men's basketball traveled to Sylvania, Ohio to face Lourdes in their final road game of the regular season.
Dominez Burnett was the only Panther in double figures as he scored 10 points to lead Davenport in scoring in the Panthers 53-32 loss Wednesday.
With the Panthers (24-5) defeat, they now fall into a three-way tie for first place in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference with Cornerstone and Northwestern Ohio with identical 18-3 records. The win by Lourdes puts it into a three-way tie for fourth in the conference with Aquinas and Concordia heading into the final game of the regular season.
To open the game, Lourdes went on a 10-5 run in the first 8:19 of the game to take their largest lead of the first half. The Panthers were able to battle back to tie the game at ten with 10:43 left in the half. Both teams continued to battle back-and-forth throughout the first as Lourdes was able to take a 21-19 lead into the half. Davenport struggled shooting the ball in the first half as they shot 25.9 percent from the field in the first half.
Lourdes started to pull away to start the second half as they went on a 12-3 run in the first 7:11 of the second half to jump out to a 33-22 lead. After falling behind by 14 points, the Panthers were able to bring the game back within seven points with 4:29 left in regulation, but Lourdes was able to pull away from the Panthers en route to a 53-32 win over Davenport. The Panthers shot a season low 21.6 percent from the field.
The Panthers will conclude the regular season schedule on Saturday afternoon as they host Marygrove at the DU Student Center at 3 p.m. for Senior Day.
