RMU gets late OT goal in 5-4 Win over DU
Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport women's hockey team nearly ended a losing streak on Saturday. The Panthers went into overtime with Robert Morris (Ill.) before the Eagles scored late for a 5-4 win at Patterson Ice Center. Davenport opened the scoring up with a nice goal by
Jenny Deane in the first period. The Panthers and Eagles battled it out in the first, both sides having good scoring chances. With four minutes left in the first, Robert Morris tied it up with a fluky tip over Davenport's goalie glove. The first period ended with the teams tied at one.
The second period started with Robert Morris going ahead by the score of 2-1. Minutes later Davenport's
Victoria Dubuc tied the game up with a nice one-timer assisted by Sam Rogers. The second period ended all tied up at 2-2. Five minutes into the third, Robert Morris regained the lead with a nice wrist shot over the Panther goalie left shoulder. Robert Morris now led the Panthers 3-2. Seconds later Davenport tied it back up with
Megan Martin scoring her first of the game assisted by
Patsy Howe and
Caitlin Dunne.
Minutes later Robert Morris regained the lead once again, 4-3. Davenport's
Lexie Boydston tied the game up with 22 seconds left in the game. The goal was assisted by
Megan Martin and
Laken Kunz. This game needed overtime and with 1:45 left into the overtime, Robert Morris scored by kicking the puck into the net with a controversial finish.
