Bulldogs Pull Away in the Third For 5-2 Win

Dubuc and Porcalla each had a goal for the Panthers

Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport women's hockey team pushed No. 3 Adrian into the third period with a tie game but the Bulldogs got three goals in the final stanza for a 5-2 win over the Panthers at Patterson Ice Center. The Panthers opened the scoring in the first as Victoria Dubuc knocked in a loose puck in front of the net at 7:08. The Bulldogs evened the score on the power play at 17:59 as Kaillie Hardy scored for the second straight night on a jam past the goal line under Davenport goaltender Dawn Salo.

Adrienne Porcalla and Patsy Howe teamed up for a 2-1 lead at 4:28 of the second period as Porcalla's goal was scored at even strength. The Bulldogs would then score the last four goals of the game. Hardy's second of the night tied it up at 18:38 on a penalty shot. Alicia Tait scored the game-winning goal at 10:32 of the third period as Hardy's big night continued with an assist. Sam Fortune and Paige Fuoco finished the scoring as Fortune scored a power play goal at 11:04 and Fuoco scored at 14:37. Adrian killed all five penalties while Davenport allowed two power play goals in six tries. Salo finished with 23 saves for Davenport including 10 in the second period.

"The team had a lot better jump tonight," said head coach Tom Hofman. "We could not be happier with the team effort tonight. They showed what they are capable of against a very tough, deep Adrian squad. I am excited to see what the team does over the next few weeks."
