Bulldogs Upend Panthers with Big Third Period

Davenport (3-5) recorded their goal in the third by Laken Kunz on the power play

Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. - The Davenport women's hockey team began a two-game series on Thursday night at Adrian College. The Panthers (3-5) saw the Bulldogs (7-2) score three goals in the third period for a 3-1 win over DU. The CCWHA matchup featured the No. 3 Bulldogs against the No. 12 Panthers. DU has dropped four straight after beginning the season at 3-1.

Adrian had a lot of offensive chances in this contest outshooting Davenport 48-13. DU netminder Karley Ferguson played very well in net to keep the Bulldogs off the scoreboard in the first two periods. For the game, she made 45 saves but the Bulldogs just kept coming at her and scored three times in a span of less than 10 minutes.

Kirstin LaBelle scored at 8:54 to break the scoreless tie in the third. Kaillie Hardy added to the lead 1:38 later and Davenport needed to start making a push of their own to get back into the game. The Panthers got one back at 12:32 on the power play as Laken Kunz scored her second of the season from Jenny Deane and Katie Dubro. The Bulldogs took advantage of a too many players on the ice penalty late in the third as Alicia Tait scored on the power play unassisted at 18:17.
