GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Panthers sought their second straight win Saturday afternoon against the 0-8, 0-4 Marygrove College Mustangs. Davenport scored early and often as they tallied seven goals each half in route to a 14-0 blowout of the Mustangs. DU advances to 2-5 in WHAC play with a 5-7-1 mark overall in 2015.
The first half saw the Panthers tally seven goals following a barrage of nine shots on goal.
Shameeka Fishley led the charge with a hat trick in the first 45 minutes while
Danielle Beery netted two and
Meg Wisinski scored her first of the season.
DU would continue this pace in the second half as seven more goals would find the back of the net led, once again, by Fishley as she recorded a second half hat trick to bring her game total to six scores. The Panthers recorded 12 more shots on goal to bring their game total to 21. Hilgendorf would score twice more and Beery would net another to get her hat trick as the Panthers overwhelmed the Mustangs with a 14-0 lead.
Tara Gessler made the start in goal and earned the decision by making one save.
Beth Ledger replaced Gessler at the break and maintained the shutout in 45 minutes of action.
Fishley's six goals is the second most in a game for DU while Hilgendorf's four scores bring her week's total up to eight goals. Fishley also recorded two assists for the match and led all players with 10 shots.
Nea-Stina Liljedahl recorded a match-high four assists.
