Men’s Lacrosse Rolls Past Central Michigan into CCLA Tournament Final

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The 18th-ranked men's lacrosse team traveled to Ann Arbor for the CCLA Tournament. Parker Horvath led the Panthers with five goals and four assists and Daniel Hume chipped in three goals and two assists, as Davenport beat Central Michigan 22-4 in the CCLA Tournament Semifinal. Davenport is now 10-4 on the season and has advanced to the CCLA Tournament Final. The Panthers will face the winner of the Pittsburgh vs. Michigan State semifinal on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Ann Arbor Pioneer High School.


Parker Horvath led the Davenport offensive attack with five goals and four assists. Daniel Hume, Dominic Boggiano and Richie Tagliagambe tallied three goals apiece. Coltin Borthwick, Jimmy Fata and Chapin White rounded out the multi-goal scores in the game, while Nathaniel Adkins and Devon Benson each scored a goal.
 
Borthwick started the scoring in the game with a goal 1:48 into the first quarter, but Central Michigan came right back and tied the game up at one. Adkins scored to increase the Davenport lead and Horvath scored two more times to close out the first quarter and give the Panthers a 4-1 lead.
 
Hume got the scoring started in the second quarter to increase the Davenport lead to 5-1. The Panthers rattled off the next three goals to take an 8-1 lead. With 5:49 left in the second quarter, Central Michigan scored to cut the lead to six goals. Neither team could score in the final minutes of the second quarter as the Panthers led 8-2 at halftime.
 
To start the second half, Davenport and Central Michigan traded goals, but Dominic Boggiano started a Davenport run with back-to-back man up goals. After the two goals form Boggiano, Davenport scored the next three goals to take a 14-3 lead. Central Michigan stopped the 5-0 run by Davenport with 2:09 left in the third quarter, but Horvath and Hume closed out the scoring in the third quarter to take a 16-4 lead.
 
Davenport continued to dominate play in the fourth quarter as they outscored Central Michigan 6-0 in the quarter. The Panthers went onto win the game 22-4.
 
DU has advanced to the CCLA Tournament Final where they will face the winner of the Pittsburgh vs. Michigan State semifinal at 3 p.m. in Ann Arbor, Mich. on Saturday, where the winner will receive an automatic bid into the MCLA National Tournament.
