ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Davenport baseball team bats combined for 24 runs while three pitchers held Concordia to three as the Panthers swept the doubleheader 13-1, 11-1 to secure the program's first Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference regular-season championship Saturday afternoon. Zack Sardellitti had six hits but drove in eight runs and Connor Seymour added five RBI along with his first career home run in both contests to lead the Panthers.

The Panthers (38-15, 24-6 WHAC) close out the league's regular-season with a .800 percentage in the standings, putting the championship out of second-place Northwestern Ohio's reach.

Before it heads to Indiana Tech for the WHAC Tournament, which begins May 5, Davenport will get a tune-up in Joliet, Ill., against Saint Francis Thursday at 5:30 p.m. EDT.

Game 1: Davenport 13, Concordia 1
Jordan Anderson (5-0) recorded 11 strikeouts during his eight innings of work, one shy from matching his career and the school record 12. In addition to striking out the third inning in order, nine Concordia batters were called looking nine of the 11 times. The senior lefty went on to allow three hits, a walk and the lone run in the sixth, but due to a high pitch count, head coach Kevin Tidey handed the ball to Jonathan Cheshire to pitch the ninth.

Davenport racked up 19 hits with three of them extra bases. Eric Cummings and Brendan Bender stretched for triples while Seymour belted a two-run shot in the ninth, the first home run in his career. Sardellitti knocked in a season-high five runs, including a two-run single in the eighth.

The Panthers got on the board in the second inning when Jordan Zylstra led off with a single, advanced to second after Zac Wilson was hit by the pitch and scored on Sardellitti's single. Eric Cummings collected the insurance run after hitting a leadoff triple to right center and followed with Bender's RBI single to second.

Although the Panthers took a 6-1 lead into the ninth, the game was put out of reach when DU put seven runs on the frame, including the two-run single by Sardellitti followed by the two-run blast from Seymour.

Game 2: Davenport 11, Concordia 1
Davenport jumped to a 2-0 lead in the second inning after Zac Wilson and Sardellitti reached on base with a double and single, respectively, to set up a two-run base hit by Seymour. The Panthers added on to the lead in the third when Bender hit a solo shot to right center.

The Panthers went on to score two runs in both the fourth and fifth, and added four more in the sixth to build an 11-1 lead.

Corey Sessions (6-0) struck out three and allowed an unearned run in the second. He also surrendered four hits but didn't issue a walk.
