BEVERLY, HILLS, Mich. – Emily DeVries scored five goals, Brooke Knoll and Hanna Bush each added four, and Davenport opened Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play with a 24-5 runaway win over women's lacrosse newbie Lourdes during the late-night shift at Detroit Country Day Saturday. The Panthers improve their record to a program-best 3-0 while the Gray Wolves dropped to 0-3 overall, 0-2 in conference.

Knoll also added four assists to her eight-point day while Taylor Balch scored one goal and notched six assists. Rounding out the Panthers with multiple goals were Jessica Lemcke with three and Bridget Zuidgeest, Sara Kuzava and Kaitlyn Lowden each with two.

Samantha Powers had somewhat of a quiet day between the posts as the made one save but conceded three goals. Lena Henderson took over and allowed two goals in her season-debut.

Faith Fisher and Katie Cerveny led the effort for the Gray Wolves. Fisher recorded a hat trick while Cerveny added the two goals.

Lowden broke the ice at the 28:17 mark and the Panthers added four more in the span of nearly five minutes. Fisher got Lourdes on the board with 23:46 left but Davenport quickly regained the five-goal lead with Bush's first DU goal 23 seconds later.

Davenport went into the break leading 17-3.

The Panthers will open their 'home schedule' on Thursday when they host another women's lacrosse newbie in Lawrence Tech. The opening draw is slated for noon.
