CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – The Davenport D3 hockey team allowed two goals early in the first period and could not recover as they fell 2-0 to rival Hope College in the ACHA national semifinals. Tomorrow DU will play Robert Morris University for a consolation game to determine third place of the National Tournament.
Hope College took the lead 3:25 into the first period which gave them early momentum and just over one minute later Hope gained the two goal advantage with a shot that slipped past John Cruse.
The Panther defense was able to hold Hope off for the remainder of the game along with some excellent goaltending from Cruse. DU's offense had 29 shots while the Flying Dutchmen had 18 but they couldn't find the back of the net throughout the final two periods
Tomorrow, DU with battle Robert Morris University for a third place trophy in the ACHA National Tournament.
