A Quick Look at Union College
The Bulldogs christened their newest season at home last Saturday by splitting a doubleheader with Cumberlands. In game one, Union but failed to shut the door with a four-run lead in the seventh but a costly throwing error by the Patriots allowed the Bulldogs to steal a 9-8 victory. The Patriots returned the favor in the second game by racking up eight hits and 10 walks to score all the runs in their 10-6 victory over the Bulldogs. Union third baseman Jared Tomany drove in four runs while scoring two in the eighth slot in the lineup to lead the team.

The Last Time vs. Union
The Bulldogs and Panthers opened their regular seasons in Barbourville, Ky., last season, with Union taking two out of the three-game set. Among returners, Derek Dennis went 4-for-10 with two walks, a home run and four RBI in the series. Jordan Anderson, Ryan Butzer and Alex Schuiling are the other returning pitchers to have see the Bulldogs last year. Game one starter Anderson handed the ball to the bullpen after two innings of work, allowing four earned runs on two hits and six walks. Butzer was called by head coach Kevin Tidey twice, allowing only an unearned run in five innings. He also punched out four batters.
