GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After a winter storm called off four games in Kentucky last weekend, the Davenport baseball team heads further south to the sunshine state of Florida to for its annual spring break trip, playing a dozen games against nine opponents throughout the week starting with a doubleheader against Grace (Neb.) at Lake Myrtle Field in Auburndale, Fla., Sunday at 4 p.m. Fans can listen to all 12 games on the Davenport Athletics Network with Gene Halbert calling the play-by-play.

The Panthers return to action for the first time since taking 2-of-3 at Union (Ky.) on opening weekend two weeks ago.

Davenport had tremendous success in Florida last year. After falling to Warner in the opener, the Panthers went on to win eight of the remaining nine games including upset victories over then-No. 7 Embry-Riddle and No. 6 Point Park (Pa.). Both those teams are once again on Davenport's schedule, with the Eagles ranked third in the NAIA and Pioneers No. 19. The Panthers also return to Warner's ballpark as well as Southeastern (Fla.) and Webber International while making visits to both Lake Myrtle Park and Chain O'Lakes to play neutral site games against Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.), Ashland (Mich.) and Saint Francis (Ill.).
