GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport Women's Tennis team fell to Hope College 6-3 on Friday night in a closely contested match. The Dutch led 2-1 after singles and the Panthers were unable to make the comeback in singles play to fall to 2-3 on the season in dual matches. DU will return to the courts on Tuesday when they travel to Ferris State.

Playing their second match of the spring season, the Lady Panthers were unable to post their first victory as the Flying Dutch posted a 6-3 win over No. 24 Davenport.

Hope led 2-1 after doubles with the lone DU win coming from Puck Luttikhuis and Kristi Kuzdal at No. 2 (8-5). DU dropped a heart-breaker at the top (9-8; 11) while falling 8-6 at No. 3.

In singles, Luttikhuis continued her outstanding play as she grabbed the first point to tie the match at 2-2 but Hope rallied to win four of the remaining five matches to take the overall victory. The other victory in singles came at No. 1 as Alyssa Fuentes won 6-3, 6-3.

DU will head to Big Rapids on Tuesday to face Ferris State University at 6 p.m.
