D3 Hockey Gets Shutout at Home Against Adrian-Gold

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport D3 hockey team was back in action for one game this weekend as they hosted Adrian-Gold at Patterson Ice Center on Saturday night. Kelton Maskell made 61 saves in the game, but the Bulldogs were able to win the game 15-0. DU falls to 0-5-0-0 on the year and will have a home-and-home series next weekend with local rival Grand Valley State.
 
Adrian came out strong in the first period as they held the puck in the Davenport end for a good portion of the period. The Bulldogs were able fire 27 shots on net as they tallied six goals in the period. Davenport had a couple of chances late in the first period, but could not convert as Adrian led 6-0 after the first period.
 
In the second period, Adrian continued to dominate puck possession as they only allow Davenport two shots on net in the period. The Bulldogs scored four goals in the period to take a 10-0 lead into the second intermission.
 
The Bulldogs converted on three scoring chances early in the third period to increase their lead, and Adrian tallied two more goals in the period to win the game 15-0.
 
The Panthers will be back on the next weekend with a home-and-home series against crosstown rival Grand Valley State starting Friday at 8:30 p.m. in Walker, Mich.
