SYLVANIA, Ohio – After a thrilling road victory on Wednesday over No. 9 Madonna the Panthers traveled to another tough road location and pulled out a 3-1 victory over Lourdes.
Hannah Stone's solid offensive effort was key in giving DU their 5
th straight victory and improving to 14-4 overall and 9-1 in league action.
Stone recorded 17 kills in the match with a .500 hitting percentage. Also leading the offensive kills attack was
Molly Lameyer (13) and
Marcey DeHaan (11). Senior
Amber Getty posted another solid performance with 43 assists, 13 digs and 3 block.
Set one of the match was close from the start and remained tied until the 22 point mark. Three straight kills by
Krissy Dill, Stone and Lameyer gave DU the 25-22 edge and set one of the match. Lourdes answered back and took the second set 25-21 behind a four point run to start the set.
Tied 1-1 in the match DU had to battle for every last point in a back and forth third set. Key kills by Stone in the latter half of the match helped seal a close 25-23 victory. With the 2-1 match lead the Panthers had another tough match ahead of them but continued to stay solid offensively and finished with a 25-19 victory to win the match 3-1.
Davenport will look to extend their 5 match win streak with a home 1 p.m. contest tomorrow at the DU Student Center.
