GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After seven straight matches on the road the Panthers returned to the DU Student Center and defeated cross-town rival Cornerstone in straight sets (27-25, 25-22, 25-22).
Molly Lameyer posted 16 kills to give Davenport their 26
th win on the season and improve to 15-2 in Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference play.
The opening set was one of scoring runs by both teams but Davenport held on to win 27-25 behind two straight kills from Lameyer. Set two and three finished with the same 25-22 result in favor of the Panthers.
The Panthers got 16 kills from
Molly Lameyer, 12 from
Hannah Stone and nine from
Marcey DeHaan to lead the DU to a big win over Cornerstone. Freshman libero
Morgan Torres led the defensive effort as she posted 18 digs while
Lexie Spetoskey chipped in with 11 and
Krissy Dill 10.
Amber Getty was tops in the assist category with 44.
DU is now 26-7 overall and will be back on the road Saturday for their next two matches when they face Marygrove (12 p.m.) and Lawrence Tech (3 p.m.) in Southfield, Mich. for the second WHAC crossover.
